Spring awakening

It’s spring! The depths of the earth are rising and waking up…  A creature with multiple faces transforms, stretches and dances. Childrens’ bodies and mask wearers, become a single body  that is born, lives, observes, listens to its inner rhymes…

This wandering masked creature is the fruit of a series of mask confection, movement and sound creation workshops, in the spring of 2023, for about fifteen hours between all the classes at the village school, École Christe-Roi.  

It was a first time collaboration between visual arts artist Mélanie Pelletier, interdisciplinary choreographer Emmanuelle Calvé, as well as Fanny Tousignant, puppeteer and spoken word artist. All three are from Les Sources Regional County Municipality and work in transmission, mindful of community outreach of their craft.
