Actor and stage-director, Alban Lebrun started creating masks out of fabric in 2012, strongly inspired by the Romanian tradition where he studied with known local artists. His artistic approach is to explore the possibilities offered by these “Carnavalesque” masks and to adapt them to the constraints of the stage. Originally raw, terrifying, and oversized, his masks become tender and poetic without ever losing their strangeness or their animalistic nature.
