Zombie – Le mort-vivant autopsié (Autopsy of the Undead)
ConferenceTickets are no longer available online.
For over ten years now, marches have been organised in the streets of many cities in which people wear latex prostheses and bloody make-up for the simple pleasure of being a living-dead or to protest against the individuality of Western societies. Taking a closer look at zombie movies since the 1960’s allows us to document the evolution of our most visceral fears. And finally, returning to the zombie source brings back a dark chapter of our history, namely, slavery.
Amélie Pepin is a professor of Literature at the Collège de Valleyfield and published a book on the subject in 2013: Zombie – Le mort-vivant autopsié (Autopsy of the Living-Dead). Based on her writings, she will address the zombie phenomenon not as a fad but as a creation symbolizing Man’s greatest fear: himself.
Amélie Pepin’s book will be on sale at the festival.
