The beasts

Exhibition
May 16, 2015 at 16:00 to June 21, 2015Galerie des NanasAlysha Farling (British-Columbia)Free

Alysha is interested in transformation, whether it is working with found or recyled material and creating something new or whithin the creatures she creates themselves. These creatures dancing between animal and human can also have elements of their face morphing into other limbs. She is also interested in the friction caused between the grotesque and the beautiful. Most of her work is inspired from moments of play as a child, she is constantly searching for and trying to recreate that magic that was once so easy to find.

Alysha Farling is a visual artist who focuses on installation, drawing and mask making. She graduated from Camosun College in 2008 and then went on to do her BFA, where she majored in drawing and painting, at Concordia University, graduating with distinction in 2013. Since Graduating she has done shows in Montreal, Ottawa and Victoria, as well as two solo shows and a residency in Argentina. She currently has a book being published through PDA press in ottawa, due out in June.

There will be an exhibition opening on May 16th at 4 p.m.
