Origami masks

Joel Cooper was born in San Francisco and raised in Kansas. He received a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from the Univerity of Kansas in 1992 with a specialization in sculpture and bronze-casting. He has been folding origami since childhood. Although he studied various traditional artistic media in college, it did not occur to him to incorporate origami until around 2003, when he first applied paper folding to making masks. He combines advanced techniques of origami and his experience in sculpture to create these new forms.

There will be an exhibition opening on thursday May 28th at 5 p.m.
