In the presence of a few native indian masks from the personal collection of Michel Cartier, the memory of those who occupied the territory for milleniums when the first lords, intendants and clergymen arrived bringing with them music and instruments of another culture. New-France, was for a moment this exceptional encounter between baroque music and native american traditions. From the bottom of the hold of the ships coming from France, were brought harpsicord, viola de gamba and other instruments of the time that these great composers, Marin Marais, Sainte-Colombe, Caix D’Herveloix and others, could bring to live. Marie-Laurence Primeau with the viola de gamba and the recorder and Dorothéa Ventura with the harpsicord in the spirit of the time with the native american masks will be brought back together for our greatest pleasure.
