Indigenous masks of the west coast

Michel Cartier’s collection comes from his meeting with the nations of the Pacific coast in the 1960’s. The project was to recreate traditional rituals and present them as performances. Some of theses masks were designed to impress the audience, through mobile parts that could also make sounds.
