ExhibitionBernard Boutin (Estrie, Quebec)
Found forms, often forgotten, gathered together for a moment. As if by magic, they suddenly form faces or characters—friendly, lively companions.
Born into a well-known family in Saint-Camille, Bernard Boutin was born on March 31, 1958. Sadly, he passed away in 2024. The Masq’alors! Festival team wished to pay tribute by exhibiting a selection of his works in small, medium, and even very large formats.
Although he was born in Saint-Camille, following the accidental death of his father, the family moved in 1965 to Saint-Adolphe-de-Dudswell, where his mother could rely on the support of her family to raise her seven young children. It was there that Bernard spent his childhood.
At school, he was introduced to the arts and encouraged by his teachers to pursue this path. Bernard went on to earn a Bachelor’s degree in Art Education from UQAM in 1987. He built a career as an art teacher in French-language elementary schools in Ontario, working in the Hamilton and later Peterborough regions until his retirement in 2012.
Throughout his life, Bernard continued to create using various media and materials, with a special fondness for collage and assemblage techniques.
In accordance with Bernard’s wishes, a silent auction of his works will be held during the exhibition. Proceeds will go to Masq’alors!.
Special thanks to Marc Deslauriers and Christine Juillard for their generous idea and support in making this exhibition and auction possible.
